Through My Eyes
I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah and also i bear witness that Muhammed is his slave and Messenger.
I would first like to thank my mother for all of her hard work and also my oldest sister Miki and my older brother Jose, for being my companions in this life and i ask Allah to bless them, my brothers and sisters and the rest of my family and friends and also acknowledgement of my father Robel Torres Martinez and special recognition to my son Robert, whom we grew apart due to circumstances.
And a special thanks to my wife Hajja Amina Maisonet and long time companion, who with her wisdom and care about me, made my life so beautiful and easy. That without her love and care my life would have been so difficult , with Allahs mercy he gave me a beautiful partner to make my life full and all the experience that i was able to get i own her all of my love and gratitude
I was born June 2 1951 in Spanish Harlem New York,(El Barrio) Spanish Harlem ,the third of four siblings the last being 14 years apart, all of them born in Puerto Rico,me being the only one that was born in New York, but at the tender age of 3 we were separated from our parent's due to a fall that they experience (Heroin) was king back in the fifty's and due to their condition of being emigrants and being in need of the financial stability that was needed to survive in the concrete jungle, they felt victims to the drug world , which did its job of breaking up families and incarcerating the parents, on one of their drug dealings they got busted and were sentence to 7 to 15 years in the Penitentiary and by them being sentence, we were being sentence to an orphanage ,St Joseph Home in Peekskill , N.Y. where we remained until my mother's sentence was fulfilled.
But by Allahs mercy that helped us become stronger human beings, in being able to deal with life's ups and downs, which a lot of people are not prepared to deal with,
Chapter 1. Coming into knowledge
At the age of sixteen i was introduce to the Last Poets in Brooklyn N.Y.(The Revolution will not be televise)and they were rehearsing in a shop that i used to go to on Myrtle Ave in Brooklyn, and one of the Brothers name Jalaluddin Mansur Nurriddeen started telling me about Islam and when he read to me, Sura Ikhlas 112.
In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
1. Say He is Allah, the One
2.Allah the Self Sufficient
3.He begets not, nor is He begotten.
4.And there is none like unto Him.
And just this Sura from the Qur'an had an ever lasting effect on me until this present day, i went to a Book Store and bought a copy of the Noble Qur'an and took it home and started to read, and the effect that the Qur'an had on me was very inspirational, that three days later i saw Jalal and i told him that i wanted to become Muslim, so he prepared me and told me about taking a shower and shaving my private parts, to go at take my Shahadah...
1. Testify that their is none worthy of worship but Allah and Muhammed is his Prophet.
2.Salat , prayer 5 times a day
3.Zakat , 2.5 percent of my annual salary
4. Ramadhan, fast for 29 or 30 days the month that the Qur'an was revealed.
5. Hajj, Pilgrimage to Mecca once in my life time , if i had the means.
It all sounded so easy, until Ramadhan started the following week and that is when the test started, it was hard just changing my dietary habits, eating all of those Spanish dishes with pork in almost everything, but fasting from sunrise to sunset and making Salat, that's when i realize that being Muslim was no game and that you had to be real and committed to this big change in your life if you wanted to break into the realm of truth, but my Ramadhan had its ups and down, but i didn't get discourage i knew that Allah judges you by intentions and i knew that i tried.
In 1968 i entered the Army because my older brother was Drafted and when he left me i was so alone that i volunteered, soon after i realized that it was a mistake but it was to late for regrets, but to my surprise i met a lot of Muslim in the Army ,so this surge of Muslims in the Armed Forces is not new , i just had a lot of explaining to do why i didn't eat pork, why i was always bowing down and why i washed so much, specially my feet.
But my Caribbean heritage had its good effects on me and by being exposed to the life style of the concrete jungle i knew how to deal with opposing forces , i never took any foolishness from anybody and i still do not, i speak what is on my mind and try to be as cordial as Allah allows me to be , i strive be be a good brother, but i do not bow down to no one but the creator of the heavens and earth Allah, i recognize achievements and the realms of history, especially in America and the whole of the western world.
By Allahs mercy he has allowed me to travel all over the world, from Rome to the Dome, Dome of the Rock (Jerusalem) and spend Ramadhan in different parts of the world, with muslim families enjoying each others culture and i realize that all this is Allahs doing, so that i can share with the community back home.
My first trip abroad was to England after i got out of the Army, something got into me about experience Muslim hospitality ,i arrived in London and i went to the big Masjid on Park Place, they have a big Masjid which i was able to shower and eat, where i met a white American Muslim and it was the first time that i met a Caucasian Muslim and he directed me to a city called Norwich it was a four hour train ride from London when i arrived there was a brother waiting for me at the train station to greet me, that's when i was exposed to a whole community of white Muslims and even though Islam is for all humanity, i was amazed to see an all white community including the Imam. But the hospitality was 100% Islamic i was a little apprehensive being brought up in a city like New york , black Muslims some Hispanic Muslims in other words, a pretty colorful world and they could see it in me, because they question me about why i was so uptight and i explain to them why, but they made me feel at home with them, i had some money with me so i was able to share with some of the other brothers that came from all over the world , places like South Africa before the end of apartheid and brothers from Ireland with speckles on their faces with red hair and also from Denmark, Philippines, Mexico basically from all of Europe and some Arab Countries and here i was a Puerto Rican from New York on a international level, but little did i know that they were Sufi's and every day they had their dhikrs and everyday they were teaching me more about Islam, and also they took me on trips around the country to see some of their history, castles about how long Islam been in Europe especially in England a real education, i stayed in England about 4 months.
Then i decided to travel to France I've heard so much about it and also my last name was French (Maisonette)(small House) i took a hover craft across the English Channel when i got to France i had to take a train to Paris about a 4 hour train ride but as i was riding i realize that my French wasn't up to par, but by me being fluent in Spanish i was able to cope with the language barrier, i got to Paris and what a wonderful city it was, i ask a taxi driver from Morocco to take me to a masjid and he took me to the historical Masjid de Paris an old Moroccan style mosque when i got there i made 2 rakats prayers and i was amazed at the old style architecture when i talked to the Imam and i told him i was from America i told him that i needed a place to stay while i was in Paris and i prefer to stay with Muslims and was willing to pay for any accommodations, he suggested that i stay with the brothers from Algiers or Moroccan, at Boulevard DE Belleville and Courones i took a taxi over there and i talked to the Imam and he agreed to let me stay at the Masjid. I stayed in Paris for 3 weeks and went all over Paris and met the brothers that were doing farm work for the picking season of strawberry's and we ate with them and made salat with them and always to my surprise they ask me , please brother Yusef recite Fatiha, then they would start with the Dawah, if a brother from America can recite Fatiha and go out on Dawah so can you, it was a nice experience (crazy) but nice, all in the way of Allah and this experience were my beginning of my years as a Muslim, so i say to all of my Muslim Brothers and Sisters especially those that just became Muslim , life is beautiful but man get what he strives for you can do anything in life as long as it has some purpose to it and you are doing it for Allah, He will make it happen , one of my most memorial trips was going to North Korea and we went there to give the food for arms (Bush Plan) but we arrived Sept 15 , 2001 and i know you all know what transpired by then, when we arrived by Allahs mercy i was the one to drive the ship into North Korea , they wanted the best helmsman to drive it into port and by Allahs mercy i was the best, because by me being Muslim i try to perfect everything that i did, we had to operate all of the equipment to unload with some help from some indian muslims that were there to help them out as contractors.
AL Hajji Yusef is the one on the left, this a wedding that took place in front of the people monument, and they were amazed that a American was Muslim and was so nice to them, so they learn according to how you carry yourself.

Salaah-The Muslim Prayer
Oh my Lord! make me one who establishes regular Prayer and also (raise such) among my offspring. Oh our Lord ! and accept Thou my Prayer (Dua).
Surah Ibrahim 14:40
The Prophet Muhammed (SAW) said pray as you see me praying, and sending Darud on the Prophet is a duty of every Muslim.
Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honours,Blessings Mercy) on the Prophet (Muhammed, SAW ) and also His angels (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him.
Surah Al-Ahzab 33:56
O Allah exalt Muhammed and the followers of Muhammed as thou did exalt Ibrahim and the followers of Ibrahim, for surely thou are Magnified.
O Allah Bless Muhammed And the followers of Muhammed as thou did bless Ibrahim and the followers of Ibrahim for surely thou are Magnified.
The Salaah, is an essential part of ibadah. The Prophet (SAW) is reported to have said: Salaah is the pillar of Islam and whosoever abandons it, demolishes the very pillar of religion. The first most important aspect of Salaah is knowing how to make Salaah establishing communication with the Rabbil Alameen (Allah), knowing what Allah requires of you in order to have contact with Allah. In other words if you abandon Salaah, you cut all tides with your Lord and that is the only key to Allah's knowledge.
And by Salaah being the second pillar of Islam it is the most important, bearing witness that there is no G-d but Allah and Muhammed is his Prophet without Salaah is without merit, Zakat without Salaah you are just giving away your money without purpose , Fasting without Salaah is just depriving yourself of food without purpose, going to Mecca without Salaah is just going on a vacation to Saudia Arabia.
Because Allah created Jinn and Mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone). Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:56.
Without Salaah we are lost in the wilderness of the world and by Allah's mercy with Salaah we have the contact with our Lord that we need to survive in this world and we have access to the next life, which Allah promise us and verily the promise of Allah is true.
You must pray as soon as the time for each prayer comes. You should perform your ablutions and come to the Mosque by the time the Call (adhan) for the obligatory prayers. When you do not, you should at least begin to get ready for the prayer immediately upon hearing the Call. The Prophet (SAW) has said :'The superiority of the beginning of the time assigned to each prayer over its end is like the superiority of the hereafter over this world.' And: At the beginning of the period is the Good Pleasure of Allah, and at its end is his Forgiveness.'
Take care always to perform the regular sunnas described in the Law, which are those before the obligatory prayers and those after. Beware of missing any of them out of complacency, and if ever you do miss any with an excuse, then perform them as soon as possible. Have reverence and an attentive heart when you pray. Perfect your standing, intone the Qur'an and meditate on it, perfect your bowing, prostration, and all the essential acts. Be careful also to observe those sunnas and good manners which are indicated in the Law, and avoid anything that may either impair the prayer or just prevent it from being perfect. If you conform to this your prayer will emerge white and glowing, and it will say:May Allah safeguard you as you have safeguarded me!' Otherwise it will come out black and dark, and will say: May Allah ruin you as you have ruined me! The Prophet has said, may blessings and peace be upon him: Only that which the believer is conscious during his prayer is credited to him. I could write volumes about the importance of Prayer , it is up to everyone of us to try to perfect it to the best of our ability, to strive with all that we have to get closer to Allah and his Mercy.

An Attack On America
First let me say that the attack on America, with the Twin Towers in New York was one of the greatest tragedy's and whom ever committed these acts is a real terrorist in the name other than Islam, because Islam does not accept this kind of behavior. Jihad is an Arabic expression which implies struggle, exertion or striving.
It is one's struggle against himself(his evil desires) , against Satan and against one's human enemies. Al Jihad may also imply one's striving and undergoing hardship and forbearing in great difficulties in obtaining his livelihood.
Let us examine who are the real terrorist, who have bomb the civilizations of the world indiscriminately, because Islam does not permit killing women and children and does not permit even killing a tree that can benefit mankind and if you do not speak out against such travesties you become a partner therein, lets go back to some recent history were we can all identify , starting with Japan.
On August 6 1945 the world dramatically entered the atomic age : without warning or precedent, An American plane dropped a single nuclear bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion utterly destroyed more than four square miles of the city center. About 90,000 people were killed immediately, another 40,000 were injured, many whom died in protracted agony from radiation sickness, three days later, a second atomic bomb strike on the city of Nagasaki killed some 37,000 people and injured another 43,000. Together the two bombs eventually killed an estimated 200,000 Japanese civilians.
Then we go onto Viet Nam , the horrors of bombing are clear to all and so are its disruptive effects on peoples lives, it displaces populations, destroys capital and infrastructure, disrupts schooling and can produce negative environmental impacts, damage the social fabric, endanger civil liberties, and create health and famine crisis, just look at the effects of (agent orange) it was used to clear the jungle to clear foliage, but instead it killed crops ,killed people including American soldiers that it is still having an effect on Vietnamese and American soldiers until this day all of this done in the name of Democracy to make things better in this world, we must destroy in order to build a Nation, where people are punish in order to make a better world, who does this sound like (Shaytan) he makes the bad seem good , and the good seem bad, he is an avowed enemy to mankind and that is to all mankind. No matter what their ethic background is, he's job is to make mankind unworthy of Allahs mercy and his favors.
Then we go on to Iraq, yes they had a brutal dictator, but lets look at some of the brutal dictators of the world,
1.Kim Jong ll North Korea
2. Robert Mugabe Zimbabwe
3. Hub Jintao China
(These are just a few of the many that we know of)
why don't we invade so of these countries and liberate the suffering people of the world and bring them Democracy, but we elected an emotional wreck for a President and everybody thought that there was going to be an economical boom, with the wheels of destruction turning, but little did we know that it was going to turn on us , economically, emotionally and destroyed the face of decency that America had in the worlds eyes and for what to make our President look good, but a lot of us are scared to speak the truth even if it is against ourselves, but that is one of the realistic vision of Al-Islam, to bring peace to the world, regardless what the critics of Islam say, some Muslim and non-Muslims, all we have to do is read ,educate ourselves and after that educate our family and friends, practice what we preach, be true to ourselves want for your brother what you want for yourselves.
Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous good deeds, that he will certainly grant them succession in the land, as he granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion which he has chosen for them(islam) . And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship)with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are (rebellious disobedient to Allah).

An Extraordinary Exchange

Subject: An Extraordinary Exchange noor2704
Bismillahir Al Rahmanir Al Raheem
Alsalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatulah Wa Barakatu:
Dear sisters may this post finds you in best of health and High Iman. I came
across this beautiful story, and I think It might help us all remember how Blessed we are by having Allah in our Lives, I think he is amazing and I love him very very much, and I hope that InshaAllah this small story can touch your hearts the same way It did mine.
AN EXTRAORDINARY EXCHANGE
The cheerful little girl with bouncy curls was almost five. Waiting with her
mother at the checkout stand, she saw them - a circle of glistening white pearls in a pink foil box. "Oh please, Mommy. Can I have them? Please, Mommy, please?"
Quickly the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then looked back
into the pleading eyes of her little girl's upturned face. "A dollar ninety-five. That's almost $2.00. If you really want them, I'll think of some extra chores for you and in no time you can save enough money to buy them for yourself. Your birthday's only a week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from Grandma".
As soon as Aisha got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out 17
pennies.
After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and she went to the
neighbour and asked Aunty Jamshed if she could pick dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her another new dollar bill and at last she had enough money to buy the necklace.
Aisha loved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up. She wore
them everywhere, Sunday madressa classes, kindergarten, even to bed. The only time
she took them off was when she went swimming or had a bubble bath. Mother said if they got wet, they might turn her neck green.
Aisha had a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for bed, he
would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her a story from the Quraan. One night as he finished the story, he asked Aisha, "Do you love me?"
"Oh yes, daddy. You know that I love you."
"Then give me your pearls."
"Oh, daddy, not my pearls. But you can have Princess, the white horse from my
collection, the one with the pink tail. Remember, daddy? The one you gave me. She's my very favourite."
"That's okay, Aisha, daddy loves you. Allah-hafez." And he brushed her cheek
with a kiss.
About a week later, after the story time, Aisha's daddy asked again, "Do you
love me?"
"Daddy, you know I love you."
"Then give me our pearls."
"Oh Daddy, not my pearls. But you can have my baby doll. The brand new one I got
for my birthday. She is beautiful and you can have the yellow blanket that matches her sleeper."
"That's okay. Sleep well. May Allah bless you & protect you, Aisha. Daddy loves
you." And as always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss. A few nights later when her daddy came in, Aisha was sitting on her bed with her legs crossed Indian-style. As he came close, he noticed her chin was trembling and one silent tear rolled down her cheek.
"What is it, Aisha? What's the matter?"
Aisha didn't say anything but lifted her little hand up to her daddy. When she
opened it, there was her little pearl necklace. With a little quiver, she finally said, "Here, daddy, this is for you."
With tears gathering in his own eyes, Aisha's daddy reached out with one hand to
take the cheap necklace, and with the other hand he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a strand of genuine pearls and gave them to Aisha. He had them all the time. He was just waiting for her to give up the cheap stuff so he could give her the genuine treasure.
So it is with Allah Almighty. He is waiting for us to give up the cheap things
in our lives so that he can give us beautiful treasures. Isn't Allah great? Are you holding onto things that Allah wants you to let go of? Are you holding on to harmful or unnecessary relationships, habits and activities that you have come so attached to that it seems impossible to let go?
Sometimes it is so hard to see what is in the other hand but do believe this one
thing… Allah will never take away something without giving you something better in its place.
Jazak Allah Khair

Rawahu al Bukhari wa Muslim
On the authority of Abu Abd ar Rahman Abdullah, the son of Umar ibn al- Khattab(may Allah be pleased with them both) who said:I heard the messenger of Allah(may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)say:
Islam has been built on five (pillars) testifiying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, performing the prayers, paying the zakat, making the pilgrimage to the House and fasting in Ramadhan.
it was related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
History shows us that when we practice this Deen the way it we are supposed to, we were successful in everything that we set out to do, we were well respected in the world, because we lived according to the basic principles that Muhammed(SAW) taught us, but when muslims started to practice this deen according to somebody's else interpetation of Islam, these strange beliefs and customs entered into the muslim community as is practice now, they distorted every thing that Muhammed(SAW) the Messenger of Allah sacrifice and brought to the world, Shaitan had a party with the deviaters of this clear way of life, Righteous and pious Muslims always depended on Qur'an and Sunnah, we will know the truth when it is to late , when Munkar and Nakir will come to interrogate them in their graves, the first question will be who is your lord, the second will be what is your religion, and the third will be who is your prophet, not who is your Shiekh or what particular Madhhab did you belong to? because we follow these Schools of thought the way we are suppose to follow what the Prophet(SAW) brought us, Islam in its purest form, tawheed (Oneness of Allah) seek Allahs favor and be afraid of the Creator alone ,(not man) want for your brother what you want for yourself, love for Allah and recognize that Muhammed is and was the best of all mankind.
They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah(by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allah)(9:31)
Alhamduillah that Allah protected the Qur'an from all of these people who take Islam as a game and misguide the masses, by their actions and all you have to do is pick up the Qur'an and read ,study the life of the Prophet (SAW)and you will have true guidance, because if their Imams are not telling them to follow Muhammed(SAW) then they need guidance themselves , who want to make islam hard to understand.
In The Name Of Allah , The Most gracious , The Most Merciful
1. Alif Lam Mim.
2.This is the Book whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who
fear Allah much(abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which he has
forbidden)and love Allah much(perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)
3. Who believe in the unseen and perform As-salat (prayers) and spend out of what We have provided for them(Zakat)spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives and also give charity to the poor and also in Allahs cause. Sura Baqarah(2:1 to 3)
The Qur'an is very clear and the Prophets example is very clear, so the whole problem is that we are not studying and educating ourselves. and by not doing that we stay in the corner of those that are misguided.

Brother Curtis Sharif is a true pioneer in every sense of the word, We as Muslim, have an obligation to honor our brothers and sisters, who have made everything that we are enjoying today possible.
I am a witness to it, through my own eyes, to the hard work that Brother Curtis does. I have seen his dedication to spreading Islam by word of mouth, the internet, through photography and video production, and by his articles in various papers including the Muslim Journal.
I am not going to wait to Allah calls him, No i am going to thank him now, to let him know, that everything that he did made a difference, and that his work has made the world a better place.
Curtis Sharif now lives in Houston,Texas. He is a native of Beaumont , Texas and graduated Herbert High School there. He graduated, Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Mass Communications.
He accepted Islam in 1971,when he joined the Nation of Islam in Atlanta,In the 34 years since then he has been associated with the Atlanta Masjid ,the Dallas Masjid , Masjid of Al Islam, the Houston Masjid of Al Islam, Masjid An Nur of Houston, The Taleem Masjid in Houston, Masjid Qur'an in Houston, the Port Arthur Islamic Center and the Beaumont Masjid in Texas. He is a U.S. Army veteran, serving as an air traffic controller in Saigon during the Vietnam Era.
In Atlanta , he served as Southeast Regional Bureau chief for the Muslim Journal, which was then know as the Bilalian News. he currently contributes articles to the Muslim Journal on a periodic basis.
He has been employed with the International Business Machines Corporation for 30 years as a Systems Analyst.
He continues to use his skills as a freelance writer, photographer and video producer to promote Islam and Dawah, and to advance the growth and development in the world today.
He uses Internet technology extensively, to propagate Islam and to help establish Imam W.D. Mohammed's vision of a model Islamic Community.
He is married to Wanda Sharif, a first grade teacher in the Spring Independent School District. They have five children and two grandchildren. Three of the children attended Sister Clara Mohammed Schools where Wanda was a pioneer teacher . She served as the first principle of Sister Clara Muhammad Elementary School in Dallas , Texas
Curtis served as Amir for the group of fourteen pioneer participants in the historic, Imam Training Program and Hajj Pilgrimage sponsored by the United Arab Emirates government.
The program was produced by the cooperative effort of Khalid Ahmed of Washington, DC and the Zayed House of Islamic Culture in Al Ain ,UAE. it received the strong support of the United States Embassy in the UAE, under the sponsorship of the Sheik Mohammed Bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
As Amir of the group, Brother Curtis facilitated open lines of communication within the group and with Zayed House officials. He held weekly Ummah meetings, in which all important decisions were made by Shura and Consensus. He would then meet with Zayed House officials to appraise the progress of the program.
Curtis and Wanda Sharif's children and their spouses are:

Faridah Sharif is a senior psychology major at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
We can benefit from Curtis Sharif's life as a pioneer by observing it and learning from it. Alhumdullah, he has set a good Islamic example for our younger generation to emulate and follow.
During Hajj 2007 i was there with him and he gave me the fortitude to do what i had to for my Bro Leanus Mahdi who i was performing the Hajj for another pioneer and that's why we have to respect our elders because they can teach, they pave the way, they inspire and where ever we went they showed him great respect, because they could see the wisdom and it is part of the Muslim Culture to respect our elders , we the trainees at the Imam Training Program want to thank Hajji Curtis Sharif for all of you efforts in making it easy for us and those to follow.
I have witnessed the fortitude and commitment that Curtis demonstrated during our 2007 Hajj. Since we both had made Hajj before, we shared the experience of making this Hajj for the benefit of brothers who had returned to Allah. We supported and helped each other to complete the Hajj rituals for them. I made this Hajj for my Brother Imam Leanus Mahdi, of the Dawah Center of Prichard, Alabama , and he for Brother Hakiem Abdul Sayed, also known as Brother Clarence Wyatt of the Houston Masjid of Al Islam.
Dedicating this Hajj for those who could not make it during their lifetime demonstrates the Islamic principle of "Love for your brother what you love for yourself". That principle was further demonstrated during the Hajj ritual of stoning Shaitan. Brother Curtis led our group through the streets of Mina for the first day of stoning. Later that day he became ill while performing the tawafs in Mecca. and could not return to Mina. All of the brothers in the group gave him aid and support. On our return to Mina, I performed his duty by throwing his stones for him.
These examples of selfless charity, interdependence and mutual respect are self-evident reasons for showing respect for our Muslim Elders. They are our teachers, our inspiration, our trail blazers.
In his role and example as Amir, Curtis helped our group to earn great respect and honor wherever we went in the UAE, Saudia Arabia, and America, It is the wisdom as well as part of the Muslim Culture to respect our elders. We as participants in the Imam Training Program want to thank Amir/Imam Hajji Curtis Sharif for all of his leadership efforts to ease the difficulty of a strenuous spiritual journey.
Thank you Brother Imam Curtis Sharif

Surah 103 Al-Asr
In the Name of Allah , Most Gracious , Most Merciful.
By the Token of Time
Verily Man is in loss
Except such as have Faith, and do
Righteous deeds, and (join together)
in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of
Patience and Constancy.
As Salaamu Alaikum
My dear brothers in Islam and seekers of truth , today’s khutbah is about time , which you know well about the subject and Alhamduillah that Allah in his mercy has given each and every one of you(time) so that you can listen to his words, to his description of time.
By the Token of time, and I know that everyone of you brothers feel Allah is talking to you, but he is talking about all mankind, verily we are all lost except those who counsel each other out of truth and patience, and one of the key words is truth because we listen what people say or the media but is it the truth? They distort the truth , but we have to remember that the truth bears witness to itself and you will recognize it as a lost friend. Since we have been living in a society that nothing comes from the mouths of the average man but lies, we start thinking that this is the normal way of being. What is good is bad and what is bad is good, first we have to read and educate ourselves in what Allah is telling us in the Qur'an that Shaytan is man’s avowed enemy and his job is to keep the truth from reaching our ears and our hearts because he wants to keep the shackles of oppression on us and by doing that ,he keeps the shackles of oppression on our families on our loved ones, children, wife , brothers ,sisters on all mankind! His job is to keep us off the Siratal Mustaqeem (straight Path) .
O you who believe! Follow not Satan's footsteps. if any of you follow the footsteps of Satan, he will (but) command what is shameful and evil. And were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, not one of you would ever have been pure: but Allah does purify whom He pleases and Allah is One Who hears and knows (all things) (al-Nur 24:21)
What we must realize is that Satan only has the power of whispering into the ears of men, and suggesting disobedience to Allah with his lies. He tells us as if these lies were the truth. It is the mercy of Allah that has provided human beings with guidance as to how to spend our time on this planet. We instinctively know what is good and what is bad. At the same time we have been given the choice of following either the path of piety or the path of sin! That this choice is available to us is made explicit in the Glorious Qur'an: All praise is due to Allah the Creator of everything that is in the Heavens and Earth, that he gave us the Qur'an as a guide to help man reach the pentacles of his mercy, all we have to do is read, educate ourselves, enrich our minds with this knowledge ask for His forgiveness ask for His Protection, all you have to do is sincerely ask of him and I know and guarantee that he will give it.
We showed him the way; whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rest on his will) (al-Dahr 76:3)
Each human being has been given the potential to do good or evil deeds. Through the whole of the Qur'an Allah gives you the truth that we seek, and need to be better human beings, to be better citizens of your communities to be better friends, husbands , fathers, it is all up to you. Allah will not change a condition of a people until they change what is in their hearts. Another key word is patience, when you were at the edge of the pit of the fire He saved you. Right now you are probably saying to your self that you are incarcerated, you can’t do this you can’t do that, but you had it , but were on a course of self destruction and Allah saved you, so that you can correct yourself and change the direction that you were going in, so i ask you please take this time and be patient and educate yourself, clean your hearts , contemplate in what you need to do to be a better citizens of the world ask Allah in sincerity to change your life to give you knowledge on how to live your life make plans of what you are going to do when you get out of here and those whom Allah protects none can harm and Allah give knowledge and wisdom to whom he pleases.
Second Khutbah
Wa Ash-hadu an La Ilaha Illal Lahu , Wahdahu La Sharika, Lahu, wa Ash-hadu Anna Muhammadan Abduhu wa Rasooluhu Al-Mustafa.
I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah; the one Who has no partner. And i bear witness that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger who was chosen by Allah.
I pray to Allah that whatever I said was of some benefit to you and that we can continue to provide all of the services that Allah has allowed us to provide to you and that you study the Qur'an that we have been providing for you and when you leave please pass the Qur'an to the library so that other inmates can have the same privilege as you had to read and learn about Islam , when you get out, be strong and go to the Masjids that are close to you stay close to the Muslims, learn ask about any programs that we can help you with.
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil- akhirati hasanatan waqina azaban nar
